Learn about sleep and memory in the Somneuro Lab! Summer & Fall Positions available
The Somneuro Lab at UMass Amherst is accepting undergraduate research assistants to engage in cutting edge sleep research for course credit (Fall). The position is unpaid though students with summer funding through the Praxis Program or similar grant awards are strongly encouraged to apply. The Somneuro Lab at UMass Amherst is directed by Dr. Rebecca Spencer and is housed in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences and is an affiliate of the Neuroscience and Behavior Program. Research in our lab broadly explores a range of questions pertaining to sleep measurement and function. In particular, we are interested in neural processing during sleep and how such processing affects daytime cognition. We use a variety of techniques to explore how the brain learns cognitive and motor tasks, and how brain function and learning change over sleep. Undergraduate research assistants play a key role in our research, and this is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a research setting.
